Build and design
Moulded plastic body, spike housed at one end, covered blade channel at the other. The build has not needed to change in years because it works, and the fit and finish are noticeably better than the generic copies that share its shape.
First use
It takes a moment of reading to understand which end does what — you press the body against the glass corner and it releases. On a first attempt in a seated position I needed more than one go, which is exactly what I would expect and exactly the gap between this and the #1 pick.
Real-world scenarios
Best case is a jammed belt: the blade is superb and cuts on the pull. Worst case is water entry, because your keys may be in the ignition, in a bag, or in a pocket under the belt, and the water is rising while you look for them.
